I Love Lucy Props in other Productions

Hogan’s Heroes was a Desilu production so it would not be surprising to find a familiar prop. Above in a scene from Klink’s quarters is a familiar looking horse print as seen  on I Love Lucy in the Ricardo’s apartment.

The sceen cap above is from Harper (1966) a movie starring Paul Newman. Do you recognize this statue from the LA episodes of I Love Lucy? It looks like a horse and wagon statue that was seen near the entrance door of the Ricardo’s apartment when they go to Hollywood.

Below is another scene from the same movie with a banjo clock that reminds me of a similar one in the Ricardo’s NY apartment.

This clock was seen on eBay recently and finished unsold so the seller may relist it. It is the same model and make as the clock seen on I Love Lucy.  It is a working electric wall clock like the one on the show – these can optionally  be converted to battery by switching out the movement, instructions can easily be found online. See more details about the clock on my previous post HERE.

The Wall Clock frequently seen on set next to the kitchen door on “I Love Lucy” is an electric banjo clock made by the Trend Clock Company in Zeeland, Michigan, Model 606.

The Trend Clock Company founded in 1937 was in business until it was sold in 1968 and afterwards renamed the Sligh Clock Company.

The founders of Trend Clock Company were Garrett Van Temelen and his son Gordon who began making mantel and desk clocks part time, in the basement of their home in Zeeland, MI. and sold their products locally. During the war years when clock parts were scarce they switched to making wood novelties, and eventually bought a factory building and picked up the clock business again successfully in the post war years. They produced a popular line of planter clocks and early American styles, and by the 60s were making grandfather clocks until they were bought out by the Sligh Company.
