My Partner, Ben Hogan by Jimmy Demaret who was a three time Masters winner and friend of Ben Hogan, “to the degree anyone can, tries to give insight into the man”. “The inside story of professional golf and its greatest player”. Seen above on the mantelpiece in the I Love Lucy episode “The Golf Game”, this is now a scarce book. Author Jimmy Demaret made a guest appearance on the same show.

If you are looking for a vintage Pendleton 49er jacket check the label to tell you whether it is a man’s size or woman’s, the womenswear label is always white, and the menswear label is blue. Later era Pendleton labels have the Woolmark symbol, which was not added until the mid 1960s

Aluminum tumblers were popular in the 1950’s. They were available in plain or anodized aluminum in a range of colors and were an alternative to glass for home entertaining , and stylish and practical for use on the patio.
We see what seems to be a plain set in use in an early episode of I Love Lucy when Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to poison her.
Aluminum tumblers stay cool to the touch even on hot days and are still a popular choice today. In the 1950’s they were made by several manufacturers. Above you can see two versions of the Kromex set of aluminum tumblers with caddy. A chrome caddy like the Kromex one was seen in the I Love Lucy kitchen, holding a set of patterned glass tumblers , in the Season 2 show Lucy Hires a Maid. Recently on eBay I came across the same model piano as the upright piano on the set of the Ricardo’s apartment on the “I LOVE LUCY” TV show, for sale by eBay seller “909jordan“. It is a Story & Clark Spinet piano serial # 207633 circa 1950 pictured below.
The spinet piano was made smaller than the traditional upright piano using a different mechanism to produce the sound due to the smaller size, resulting in some loss of sound quality and dynamics. Continue reading Lucy & Ricky’s Upright Piano
In the 4th episode of season 1 “Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying to Murder Her” Lucy (Lucille Ball) sees Ricky (Desi Arnaz) mixing something into her drink and thinks he is trying to do away with her.
Ricky is seen using a cocktail shaker set that would look good in a mid-century style home bar, and was a popular item for 1950’s home entertaining. The picture above came from an ebay auction for a similar cocktail shaker, it is not an original Desilu prop but it is vintage and in fine condition, and exactly like the one on the shelf in the screen capture below from “I love Lucy” Season One, Episode 4.
